Your safety and that of our employees are the focus of every visit. We recommend that you voluntarily wear a medical mask inside the Wartburg. Thanks very much!

The historical rooms and the museum are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last admission).

The castle courtyards and outdoor facilities can be visited every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. free of charge.

Guided tours cannot be carried out yet - but you already have the opportunity to start the audio tour of the Palas and the historical rooms in the Wartburg Museum.

Welcome

Wartburg Castle sits in splendour over the town of Eisenach in Thuringia. It was the first German castle to be designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, described as an exemplary hilltop castle of the feudal period in central Europe, despite alterations and additions made in later centuries. Wartburg Castle presents an impressive overview of 1,000 years of German history.
