Wartburg Castle, Thuringia's most famous landmark, is open 365 days a year and is a fantastic place to visit no matter what the season. We look forward to welcoming you!


Our opening times

April to October:

Guided tours:
daily from 8.30am to 5pm

Guided tour in English:
daily at 1.30pm

Castle grounds:
open until 8pm

November to March:

Guided tours:
daily from 9am to 3.30pm

Guided tour in English:
daily at 1.30pm

Castle grounds:
open until 5pm

Please note:

It is only possible to visit the palas (great hall) on a guided tour. The tour lasts around 45 minutes, after which you can look around the museum at your leisure (without a guide). Guided tours are in German (apart from one daily tour in English), but information is available in 18 languages.

On 24 December, the last guided tour is at 11am.
On 31 December, the last guided tour is at 2pm.

Discover a castle steeped in history and with many tales to tell on this entertaining tour of the palas – Wartburg Castle's great hall. After the guided tour, you can look around the museum with its art exhibition and see the famous Luther Room.

There is no charge for visiting the castle grounds.
