Membership of organisations

Association of German Foundations

The Association of German Foundations represents the interests of foundations in Germany with regard to the public, government bodies and authorities.

The Association of German Foundations is committed to enabling foundations to realise their goals and carry out their work effectively, now and in the future. This includes efforts to improve the conditions under which they operate, particularly with regard to foundation law and foundation tax law, and to foster a foundation-friendly climate. By engaging in ongoing dialogue with public decision-makers and the media, and by making statements and passing motions, the association conveys an understanding of how foundations actually work and in doing so shapes political decision-making processes and public reporting.

Conference of National Cultural Institutions

The Conference of National Cultural Institutions is an affiliation that currently comprises 23 cultural institutions of national importance from the federal states in eastern Germany. It was founded on 1 March 2002 in the Francke Foundations in Halle on the basis of the so-called blue book. The Conference of National Cultural Institutions works to promote and safeguard the preservation and development of the cultural heritage of those cultural institutions in eastern Germany that are classified as nationally important in the blue book. Its aim is to ensure that the government and the public have a greater awareness of museums, collections, archives and gardens. The Conference of National Cultural Institutions serves the affiliated institutions as a platform for communicating common interests and goals. It has developed into a specialist network that successfully promotes the work of important art galleries and museums in eastern Germany to a wider German and European audience.

Museumsverband Thüringen e. V.

Museumsverband Thüringen e.V. (Museums Association of Thuringia) represents the interests of more than 230 affiliated museums and over 70 individual members, making it one of the largest cultural associations in Thuringia.

The association engages in dialogue with the political parties represented in the regional assembly, the state government, national and international organisations and committees, other cultural associations, museum authorities, and bodies that promote and support museums in Thuringia.

Working Group of Independent Cultural Institutes

The Working Group of Independent Cultural Institutes was founded in 1967 on the initiative of the Federal Minister of the Interior. The association is currently made up of 36 independent cultural and research institutes of both national and international standing that play a particular role in representing the quality and diversity of culture in Germany. Its members are independent, non-profit organisations that have always been largely reliant on private funding. The Working Group of Independent Cultural Institutes manages the Casa di Goethe in Rome.
